With the launch of the MDM product, is there a timeline for iOS support? this might be a really good fit for a BYOD MDM solution for us. Understand that the osquery part of Fleet would not be on iOS, but figured it’d be worth asking 😛
d
Hey @Jacob Burley great question! Technically, the MDM protocol allows for iOS enrollments in the same (or nearly the same) way as macOS but there are some important considerations around how an iOS device would get handled with regard to policies, scheduled queries, etc. As you mentioned, today this is all heavily reliant on osquery and iOS doesn't interface with osquery at all. Right now, I can't comment on a timeline, but please know that it is on our radar!
j
nice! i figured enrolment would probably be possible, but understand its not fully supported. As an aside, i can’t see the MDM integration on my Community Edition Fleet server under settings>integrations. Anything i need to do on my end? I am on 4.30.0.
d
hmmm... I'm checking if UI setup is a Premium thing vs. command line setup being a Community thing... https://fleetdm.com/docs/using-fleet/mdm-setup
@Jacob Burley just got confirmation that you should see the MDM setup options in the UI for the Community edition in 4.30.0. We are investigating what could be causing this right now.
j
good to know, thanks for checking 🙂
k
@Jacob Burley Was this a fresh install of Fleet, or did you migrate from an earlier version?
j
@Kathy Satterlee iirc we were on 4.28.0. Stopped the server, replaced the binary, ran migrations, and then restarted the server via systemd.
r
@Jacob Burley when you have a chance can you let us know which binary it was that was replaced? It sounds like the front end hasn't been rebuilt on your instance.
j
Hey @Reed Haynes, I replaced the
fleet
binary. Not sure what else I could have replaced haha
Ah, dont mind me. i was updating the prod instance in a different GCP project that we dont use anymore, but looking at the web frontend that we do use >< thank you for checking though!
r
No worries and I'm happy to hear you found the right instance. I do this myself from time to time. 🙂
