[MDM Support] Hey folks, I’m looking to hire Fleet for my company and have some questions: • do you support Ubuntu 20+ devices ? • Is there any location restriction?
k
Hi @Dan Silva! Fleet and osquery both support Ubuntu. MDM functionality is currently only available for Mac OS. We are working on adding Windows and Linux MDM capability as well. There are no location restrictions! We've got Fleet users and customers all over the world.
If you'd like to learn more, you can click on the “Talk to an expert” link on the fleetdm.com homepage.

Thanks @Kathy Satterlee! When you say that Fleet supports Ubuntu, can you clarify what functionalities it supports? Is there a list somewhere?
k
Here's a great breakdown: https://fleetdm.com/pricing

Hi @Dan Silva today, we support running our agent (fleetd) to gather telemetry on Ubuntu devices. That includes built-in software telemetry correlated to CVE, CISA known exploits, and probability of exploit data from first.org
d
do you know by any chance if the features available today for Mac+Ubuntu are enough for SOC2 compliance in terms of device management? (we just started working with Vanta)
d
yes, we do have a Vanta integration and many of our customers use this in their journey toward SOC2 compliance
d
ok, even if MDM is not available for ubuntu, correct? (sorry for being a pain in the ass, just making double sure)
d
not at all! great questions! MDM, at a high level, is not really a "thing" for Linux devices. MDM exists as a protocol for macOS and Windows devices, whereas Linux devices (because of the many different kernel variants) don't have a defined MDM specification that vendors can adhere to.

ah, makes sense. thanks for all this context. I’m very new to all of this. I’ll sign up for Fleet right now. Thanks for all the help @Dherder and @Kathy Satterlee 🙂

That page says
Vanta only supports up to 1000 hosts.
is that limitation on the Vanta side?
