Why aren't public IP addresses directly associated with virtual private gateways? I am pretty familiar with the AWS ecosystem having worked in software engineering for 10 years and dabbled quite a bit in AWS in that time, however I don't claim to be an expert in networking, lol. I'm working on a project now that requires creating a site-to-site VPN tunnel. My understanding is that each side of the VPN has a public IP address to connect to - I already have the ip of the customer side.
