Hey folks, do I understand this correctly: There is currently no way to add Linux arm64 hosts to fleet (i.e. create packages with
fleetctl
that install on Linux arm64 instances)?
To add some context (mostly the business side): It isn’t a big deal if the fleet server itself only runs on amd64 since it is only one instance. But not being able to connect Linux arm64 machines is a huge downturn since a lot of our vms and clusters run on arm. This downgrades fleet for us to an end user device management system for which the number is comparatively much smaller than vms and cluster nodes.

I'm new to Fleet myself but I'm sure you'd install osquery for arm64 and attach it manually to your fleet server. I saw it earlier in the documentation. Looking through it again to see if I can find it

Hello! Thanks for your message! That is correct, we do not currently support fleetd installers for linux arm64.

Hello Jahziel! do you know of any workaround for this?
j
I believe our current workaround is to install osquery for arm64 like @Danie de Jager noted above!

Is the support for arm64 planned somewhere in the roadmap for Fleet?
j
We do have an issue tracking this work! https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/1845

I see it’s de-prioratized https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/1845#issuecomment-1196021643 do you know of any ETA? what would help to bump it up on the todo list?

Howdy! Hope your weekend was good! 😄 For transparency, I'm a software engineer, not on the product team, so I can't really speak to our prioritization of specific issues. I do know that we review all open issues every sprint, and that product will communicate on that issue when it's ready for the engineering team to tackle, so keep an eye on that issue for sure!
