Again, I'm wrong, because I forgot that 3.4.0 is actually based on experimental and not master. Sorry for the confusion, there have been several changes in between. So 3.4.0 is indeed using the new way to build, but only Buck is available, so you indeed have to look at https://osquery.readthedocs.io/en/latest/development/building/, but ignore CMake.
