The weird thing here is, there weren't any changes to the linux syslog.cpp or syslog.h between 2.11.2 and 3.0, so something outside of those changed. I added some logs and I can see that the syslog ::run() function runs, and tries to read from the pipe, but always finds that there is nothing there (even if there is)
