@theopolis thanks for the clarification. yeah I will look into running a muti-threaded thrift extension server - will all the extensions then be assigned to the single UUID?
as for rather committing extensions into the main package - i tend to agree, but:
1. writing extensions in languages other than C++ would be nice, and to have those contributed by devs who feel more comfortable in more widely used languages like JS, PHP etc would certainly spawn a lot of growth
2. waiting for useful extensions to be merged upstream will take time (and a lot of effort!)
2.1. having to upgrade osquery across a large cluster just to gain access to one extension might be onerous
3. many OSS projects tend to grow much faster when there's an independent community surrounding it - anecdotal evidence, but i'm sure there's precedent
