Hello, I'm trying to help my company remove Fleet MDM from a few Macbooks, but after running the script in sudo, the profiles are still there

Hi, if you search for "Device Management" in settings you can highlight on the enrollment profile and click on the
-
button to remove it. From memory the other profiles will be removed too.

Hi @Tim Gentry, thank you for replying. After running the script, the

is still grayed out

Hi, @Ariel Mardegan! Just so you're aware, the script that you executed only removes fleetd, but does not affect MDM enrollment. I have a few questions for you: 1. Does the Device Management/Profiles screen in System Settings say if the device is managed by an MDM server? 2. Did any profiles get removed when the Fleet enrollment profile was removed? 3. Did the profiles that remain on the device get installed by Fleet or did they originate elsewhere?
@Ariel Mardegan I'm also curious what pops up when you double click on the Device Manager profile from your screenshot.

Hi @Rebecca Cowart, 1. yes, it says it is managed by our MDM server, but it is a computer bought with Fleet, and as per the contract it was added into Fleet MDM. 2. The screenshot is from after running the script, I do not have a screenshot from before, the computer is not mine and I don't have physical access into it. 3. It should have been added by Fleet only, as the owner of the device is a student of our company, and received the computer from fleet. This computer is not in our ABM anymore, and we already removed Fleet MDM from our ABM. And since we are in this topic, how can I remove Fleet MDM from the computer, since our contact in Fleet is taking some time to reply, and this script is what shows up from searching this. Thank you for the help

@Ariel Mardegan Is there a way the user of the computer can double click on the profiles and make sure that each profile either lists "Issuer" as FleetDM or "Signed" as FleetDM? I just want to make sure each of the profiles listed are from Fleet so that we have a better idea of what direction we can take. Thank you, yes, we do need to make the docs for removing MDM a bit more separated from the docs that focus on how to remove Fleet entirely, because they are pretty similar. However, to remove Fleet MDM, the only steps that need to be taken can be found here: https://fleetdm.com/guides/enroll-hosts#unenroll:~:text=select%20Block.-,Unenroll,-How%20to%20unenroll In this order, you'd be turning off the MDM setting in Actions, then running the script that you acquired, then deleting the host in Actions.
