As soon as we have a new release minting I'm going to switch the default build from 10.11 to 10.12, this time I wont change the

./build/darwin

symlink because it's too much of a headache 😉 But I will generate binary/bottles for all of the dependencies and upload to S3. The "supported" build will be with 10.12 and I will spot-check that the output binaries and their compile-time linking is compatible with 10.9, but I doubt it will be.
