@Eric Ackerman Titles are chosen automatically. Can you share the pkg here in Slack?
e
how would I attached the file?
r
You should be able to drag it from Finder into our thread.
e
Juniper.pkg
Sorry

We see this happen when a vendor creates a package without correctly setting up the metadata. We added some logic in v4.63.0 that should result in the title updating once software is installed on a host (so that we have access to the actual application name): https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/24873 There's also a request to allow modifying the software name: https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/24875
I just realized that this is likely the package you converted from .dmg. Is that correct?
e
Yes
k
Gotcha. Would you be willing to test installing it on a host, then waiting an hour or two for that host's software inventory to update and vulnerability updates to run? The expected behavior is that the name will update once a host responds back with the correct package name.
e
Yes. Tomorrow morning.
I guess that I can login as the user and install it? Will it need root/admin privileges or are they already given to it?
r
As an admin, you can go to that host's individual page and install the software. On the host's page, you'll see four tabs (Details, Software, Queries, Policies). Click on their Software tab, then use the filter to select "Available for Install" to find the package quickly. Go to the row of the software you wish to install, then click
Actions > Install
.
