You are welcome to do either. But remember that osquery is primarily a volunteer project, so there is very little guarantee that someone will pick up your request.

yup totally understood and my expectations align with what you said. It is more around the fact we are really starting to rely on osquery as a core piece of tech in our operations across the org (IT, security, procurement, compliance, etc) and that we want to take advantage of data that is present for some intel macs but not really with Apple Silicon based Macs

That usually means apple made it inaccessible. So there may not be much to do. But if you file something, it might start a conversation.

thanks! I don't know C langs only have dabbled in go so I have a learning curve to contribute but it would be nice and would love to if I did have those skills

c++ is... not my favorite. But here I am.

I will say I think knowing a C language is likely a fantastic skill, but I just never went down that road. I know Python, SQL, the shells, tiny bit of Ruby, reluctantly learned tiny bit of Perl then only dabbled in Go/Swift a tiny bit lol

TBH with python, and a little go dabbling, that's probably enough to fake c++. Mostly -- easy to adjust the code than to start from scratch.
