is there a good "getting started with fleet" on-prem guide for the open source free version? I spun up the demo docker image and tried creating a mac package for connecting to it but for one thing the mac package won't install..
p
I assume a pkg generated by an on-prem install wouldn't be signed. If that's the case, install from the command line with
sudo installer -pkg /path/to/pkg -target /
c
thank you, that was very helpful

@Chris Sanner the best resources are: fleetdm.com/deploy fleetdm.com/guides and fleetdm.com/docs
If you can't find what you're looking for there - just send us a note here with any error messages you're seeing 🙂
c
yeah, so, those resources are great if I want to do a cloud install
there's NOTHING there for just a bare metal server or a VM hosted locally
currently trying to figure out what to do once I've installed that package
z
our officially supported infra recommendations are aws, render, kubernetes and gcp (recently)
ah okay! well i will leave it for other members of the community to assist!
c
yeah, so, the only one of those that's not ...gestures...out on the internet somewhere is kubernetes. that's...not terribly friendly to new installs 🙂 I guess I'll see what I can do about standing up kubernetes

also a docker deployment workshop was run by a member of my CSE team - https://github.com/ksatter/fleet-docker maybe something here could help

c
THAT is more viable for our infrastructure.

awesome - we're here if you have any questions. here's the k8 guide if you decide to go that route (was updated this year) - https://fleetdm.com/guides/deploy-fleet-on-kubernetes#basic-article
c
not out of the question, but not something I'm familiar with yet so it's a bit of a lift to get started
z
completely understand
c
...okay, so the package installed....
