Seeing the following from the server logs:
We've always seen these errors messages, however the desktop app crashing is new
I noticed
fleet-desktop-v1.47.2
was released yesterday with fleet https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/releases/tag/fleet-v4.73.0 . We've upgraded fleet server to the latest version and fleet-desktop continues crashing. Same error logs as above

It seems to be the same issue. The Fleet Desktop App keeps turning on and off repeatedly. On some Windows PCs, the number of icons keeps increasing, eventually triggering warnings. However, when hovering the mouse over the icons, they disappear. Do you know when version Fleet Desktop 1.47.3 will be released?
l
Hi folks! Sorry for the issue. We have released the fix to our
edge
channel and after some QA will likely push to
stable
today (if we do not hit any other issues).

Fix has landed
stable
, your devices should auto-update in 15m or so and the problem should be fixed.

Both my Windows and Mac PCs have been updated to version 1.47.3, and the issue has been resolved. Thank you for the prompt support.
Does the Fleet Free version provide an option to disable automatic updates? After internal review, we would like to manage updates through manual deployment. If such an option is not available, could you please share which IP addresses or domains need to be blocked in order to stop updates? If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate your response.
l
There's a
--disable-updates
option when generating the packages with
fleetctl package
(or just set the following variable in orbit's environment
ORBIT_DISABLE_UPDATES=true
)

I recommend you watch https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/32514 if you're aiming to do that.

Ah indeed. We have a fix for that merged to be released in v1.49.0.

Thanks a lot @Ian Littman for sorting this out so quickly and for helping to troubleshoot other issues too. I appreciate your responsiveness and prompt replies. Kudos to you!

Thanks to everyone for reporting this. We are conducting an incident postmortem on Friday, and we will share our RCA along with our action items to make sure this doesn't happen again.
