#1025 Compilation freezes Issue created by Ricky-Tigg Hello. During each compilation attempt, the operation freezes at the line '`go: downloading go.opentelemetry.io/auto/sdk v1.2.1'`. There is no message emitted related to that state. I have no previous experience for troubleshooting such a situation. I can reasonably suspect that the RAM may have hard time. So I started by it my investigation.
Copy code
go version
go version go1.26.8-X:nodwarf5 linux/amd64
Before the compilation attempt
Copy code
sudo sync && echo 3 | \
sudo tee /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
Note: there is no need to reproduce on your machine, at least not with the index
3
for your '`drop_caches`', unless your machine is in such a state that it won't be hurt by it. Knowing that the Linux kernel considers empty RAM is wasted, it uses it for caching and automatically releases cache when applications need memory, I thought worth monitoring it. Paying attention to the values in the column named 'available' which shows the amount of memory that is available for new applications. Opened TTYs with the command run on it, in this order: • [tty0]
Copy code
watch -p -n 1 -d1 \
--shotsdir ~/watch_command_outputs free
• [tty1] '`journalctl --no-pager -f -p 4`' • [tty2] '`make VERBOSITY=1`' A state of the output in [tty0] was taken by pressing S before the command in [tty2] is run and while its compilation process freezes. States
