Hi there, when fleet says features are trapped behind environment variables, do you mean like environment variables in the OS? Or is there some environment variables we can set in fleet? I can't find any documentation on setting the environment variable.

Hi George, it means an environment variable. And as it mentions in that doc, the only feature flag we currently have is

FLEET_BETA_SOFTWARE_INVENTORY

@Tomas Touceda I added that environment variable FLEET_BETA_SOFTWARE_INVENTORY=1 to /etc/environment on the Ubuntu server fleet is running on, restarted fleet, but there is no Software inventory visible

what version of fleet are you running?

@Tomas Touceda running fleet 4.0.1 and yep I rebooted machine and all still dont see anything for software inventory and when I echo the envvar I see 1 as I should

would you be able to share logs from a host so that we can check whether the query is getting there? also, we just released 4.1.0 which has a bunch of improvements in this part, in case you want to give it a try

Ah I fail at slack and I only just saw this, coincidentally I have updated to 4.1 and so what logs would you like me to grab? The issue remains :(

osqueryd verbose logs would be helpful if you can share them
